Perpetual Resources Locks in ServDrill for 1,500m Diamond Program at Igrejinha
Perpetual Resources Ltd has appointed Brazilian drilling contractor ServDrill Brazil to execute an approximately 1,500-metre diamond drilling program at the Igrejinha Lithium Project in Minas Gerais, Brazil, with mobilisation and drilling scheduled to get underway in September 2026.
The upcoming campaign follows a maiden reverse circulation drilling campaign completed by the company in 2025, which succeeded initial surface sampling, mapping and trenching programs across the tenement area. While that maiden drilling provided initial geological insights, much of it tested strongly weathered material where lithium can be leached near the surface, leaving the deeper potential untested.
The targeted diamond program is designed to test the interpreted continuation of priority pegmatite systems beneath the intensely weathered near-surface profile at the Mauricio and Morro Grande prospects. Continuous drill core will allow the technical team to evaluate pegmatite geometry, structural orientation, internal zonation and the distribution of lithium-bearing minerals at depth.
At the Mauricio prospect, recent trenching has delineated a pegmatite body over a strike length of at least 350 metres, with observed apparent thicknesses ranging from approximately two metres to 11 metres. This marks an expansion from previous trenching work at the target, which had indicated a continuous pegmatite trend over approximately 167 metres. The system remains open along strike and at depth.
At Morro Grande, drilling will target primary pegmatite beneath the weathered zone. Field observations at the prospect have identified spodumene-like pseudomorphs and ghost crystals within surface outcrops, with selected fragments displaying moderate to strong pinkish-orange fluorescence under 365nm long-wave ultraviolet light.
Activity across the surrounding district has also seen corporate transactions, including Lithium Ionic Corp. completing the sale of its Salinas group of lithium properties for US$37.5 million in total consideration. Perpetual's upcoming diamond core program in Minas Gerais is scheduled to commence in September 2026.
