Québec Innovative Materials Corp. has launched an expanded 2026 natural hydrogen exploration program in the Ontario extension of the Témiscamingue Graben, adding 823 new soil-gas stations at 100-metre spacing over approximately 80 line-kilometres.

The expanded fieldwork brings the company's total Ontario database to approximately 1,733 stations and more than 125 line-kilometres. Reconnaissance soil-gas campaigns conducted in 2025 across eight lines totaling 910 samples identified a hydrogen-bearing area of roughly 260 square kilometres in the Ontario sector of the Témiscamingue Graben.

Alongside the soil-gas densification, the 2026 program incorporates more than 1,100 gravimetric stations, district-wide mobile gamma-ray spectrometry, radon-thoron measurements, and an audiomagnetotelluric survey. The technical work is led by Marc Richer-Laflèche of the Institut national de la recherche scientifique, integrating the datasets into Québec Innovative Materials Corp.’s proprietary exploration framework.

The company will collaborate with the Timiskaming First Nation to execute the soil-gas station work, incorporating local field employment, training, and data-collection roles. The exploration activities are non-invasive, using shallow hand-probed soil-gas samples, portable surface gravity meters, and vehicle-mounted spectrometry without explosives, shot-hole drilling, hydraulic fracturing, or reservoir stimulation.

Québec Innovative Materials Corp. has scheduled the expanded soil-gas survey and the gravimetric survey for the fall of 2026. The company intends to integrate the Ontario datasets with its concurrently planned 78-line-kilometre 2D Vibroseis seismic campaign in Québec and Nova Scotia to guide target definition and future drilling decisions.
