RareX Limited has commenced its maiden reverse circulation drilling campaign at the Khaleesi Project in Western Australia, testing five priority targets across the alkaline intrusive complex for gallium, niobium and rare earth mineralisation.

The approximately 3,500-metre program marks the first drill test of RareX’s geological model for the district-scale system. The targets were defined using a combination of historical exploration data, modern magnetic and gravity surveys, and recent geological reinterpretation.

RareX acquired the project in May 2024 after identifying untapped critical minerals potential in an area that had historically been explored for gold. The drilling campaign previously secured A$175,000 in funding under Round 31 of the Western Australian Government’s Exploration Incentive Scheme.

“Getting the rig turning at Khaleesi is another important step in advancing our broader exploration strategy. We're now testing five targets across a project we believe has genuine scale potential for gallium and niobium-REE, built on a strong technical foundation of geophysics, geological reinterpretation and historical exploration data,” said James Durrant, Managing Director and CEO.

The priority targets include Niobe, which hosts a surface gallium anomaly spanning approximately 5 kilometres by 3 kilometres over coincident magnetic and gravity anomalies that remain untested at depth. Other targets include carbonatite anomaly candidates on the western half of Niobe, a fractionated intrusive margin at the Rim target, a historical geochemical target designated as Nb, and a strongly magnetic pipe-like body at Mag.

“The area has a long history of exploration by major mining companies, but its REE potential has remained largely untested. By combining that historical work with modern datasets and a fresh geological interpretation, we've been able to define a compelling set of targets for this maiden program,” James Durrant, Managing Director and CEO, said.

Samples will be submitted to the laboratory as drilling progresses, with assay results expected to be released progressively as they are received and interpreted. Meanwhile, an application for an additional tenement adjoining the project area has cleared native title and is expected to proceed to grant in the near term.
