Rox Resources clears final hurdle for Youanmi gold project
Rox Resources Limited (ASX: RXL) has secured the final environmental approval required to advance its 100%-owned Youanmi gold project in Western Australia. The company received its Works Approval, authorizing the construction of the processing plant, tailings storage facility, and associated site infrastructure. This milestone completes the project’s permitting requirements, moving the venture fully into its execution phase as the company builds toward its goal of becoming a high-grade gold producer.
EPC contractor Interquip has mobilized to the site and commenced civil works for the processing plant, which is designed with a nameplate capacity of 1.0Mtpa. Rox reported that long-lead items for the mill are tracking on or ahead of schedule, with the delivery of the first steel components expected this month. Structural concrete pouring at the facility is also slated to begin in the coming month. The company enters this accelerated phase with a cash balance of $152.7 million recorded at the end of June 2026.

Development activity is broadening across the site to support the mine plan. The historic Youanmi Decline is undergoing stripping to accommodate modern mining equipment, while the Pollard Decline has now officially commenced. These efforts, combined with ongoing operations at United North, provide the company with three distinct mining fronts. Meanwhile, underground diamond drilling is underway at United North to enhance geological confidence in the ore system. Rox continues to target a first gold pour by mid-2027.
"With all major approvals now in place, construction underway, underground drilling commenced and several activities tracking ahead of schedule, Rox is fully funded and continuing to execute its plan to become one of Australia's next high-grade gold producers." — Phill Wilding, Managing Director & CEO
Rox maintains full ownership of Youanmi, which represents the primary focus of its corporate strategy. By securing the necessary permits and establishing multiple mining fronts simultaneously, the company aims to derisk the delivery of ore to the mill once construction concludes. With site infrastructure preparations now firmly underway, the focus shifts toward maintaining the current construction velocity to meet the mid-2027 production timeline.
