S2 Resources Ltd has engaged a drilling contractor to test two targets at the Warraweena project in New South Wales, with diamond drilling scheduled to start in early October.

The upcoming campaign will test the T37 gold target on 100%-owned ground and the Lilyfield copper target, where S2 is earning up to an 80% interest from private company Oxley Resources.

At the T37 prospect, drilling will follow up on a historical intercept of 4 metres at 0.75 g/t gold from 127 metres depth in a single diamond hole drilled by North Broken Hill in the 1980s. Re-logging by S2 revealed the mineralisation is hosted in a strongly deformed dolerite featuring intense albite-sericite alteration, multi-phase quartz-carbonate veining, and abundant fine-grained pyrite-arsenopyrite.

At the Lilyfield target, drilling will test a modelled magnetic anomaly. Initial reconnaissance drilling previously intersected elevated copper up to 0.12% in propylitic altered volcanics associated with quartz-carbonate veining and disseminated chalcopyrite in hole SWAD0003. Recent inversion modelling of aeromagnetic data by geophysical consultants Newexco has refined the target, identifying a near-surface finger anomaly at the northern end of the body.

Trial electromagnetic array profiling magnetotellurics surveys are also underway across the project. This passive geophysical method measures sub-surface electrical resistivity to assist with targeting beneath conductive alluvial cover from the upper Darling River system.
