Savannah Goldfields Limited (ASX:SVG) has received an updated Environmental Authority for its Georgetown project, clearing a significant hurdle for the company's mining operations at Agate Creek. The site-specific approval, granted by the Department of Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation, paves the way for the company to transition from early-stage site preparation to full-scale extraction.

The approval is the result of five years of environmental and engineering studies, covering geochemical waste rock characterization and water management planning. Securing this permit effectively resolves the Environmental Enforcement Order previously in place for Mining Lease ML100030. Savannah Goldfields plans to finalize the enforcement close-out upon submitting an updated rehabilitation cost estimate for the first year of operations.

Mining activity is scheduled to resume at the site during the current quarter. Once operational, the company intends to haul the extracted material approximately 100 kilometers to its Georgetown Gold Processing Plant. This facility currently serves as a central hub for the company's regional assets, processing gold-bearing material from several satellite projects, including Big Ben and Big Reef.

The Georgetown plant is currently operating at a throughput of roughly 550 tonnes per day, with roughly 23 days of feedstocks held in stockpiles. With the environmental approval secured, the company now has a clear two-year schedule to process its reserves, while continuing to evaluate opportunities to integrate further material from its broader project portfolio into the plant’s existing production circuit.
