Scandium Canada Advances Scalium Alloy R&D With Canadian Space Agency Funding

Scandium Canada Ltd. subsidiary Scalium+ is advancing its proprietary Scalium aluminum-scandium alloy for space applications under a Canadian Space Agency contribution agreement.

The project is backed by a $348,750 non-repayable contribution under the Space Technology Development Program. Work extends to May 31, 2028.

The program aims to scale manufacturing, validate performance, and adapt the material from thin sheets into thick plates for aerospace components and satellites. Successful deployment could reduce launch costs and carbon emissions by lowering spacecraft mass.

Scandium Canada completed its acquisition of Ferreol Technologies on June 29, 2026, renaming the subsidiary Scalium+. The contribution agreement was originally signed in August 2025 before the agency confirmed Scalium+ as the beneficiary in August 2026.

The technical program continues without interruption in Québec, supporting the company's broader integration strategy.
