Scandium Canada Appoints Former GM Executive Simon Thibault as President and CEO

Scandium Canada Ltd. has appointed former General Motors executive Simon Thibault as President and CEO, and President of Scalium+, effective August 24, 2026.
The appointment concludes a planned succession process. Outgoing CEO Guy Bourassa will join the Board of Directors and become Strategic Advisor to Management to advance the Crater Lake project in Nunavik, Québec.
Thibault joins after serving as EV critical materials leader at GM. His career also includes roles at Nemaska Lithium, Investissement Québec, and Propulsion Québec.
The board granted Thibault 3,000,000 stock options exercisable at $0.22 per share for five years, vesting monthly over three years, pending TSX Venture Exchange approval. Additionally, Pierre Neatby has resigned as President, COO, and board member to pursue other opportunities.
Scandium Canada is developing the Crater Lake project and operates Scalium+, a subsidiary commercializing proprietary aluminum-scandium alloys. The company anticipates completing its 2026 drilling program at Crater Lake, comprising up to 36 holes totaling at least 4,000 metres.
“What sets Scandium Canada apart is that it is not starting with a mine and searching for a market. Through Scalium+, the Company already has aluminum-scandium alloy products, customers, and an active qualification pipeline. That combination of commercial readiness, strategic assets, and strong partnerships is what convinced me to join Scandium Canada, and I look forward to helping execute the next phase of growth,”
— Simon Thibault, President and Chief Executive Officer, Scandium Canada and President, Scalium+
