Seabridge Gold Inc. has reported that the Gitxsan Huwilp Government has withdrawn its 2013 letter of support for the KSM Project in British Columbia. The withdrawal is intended to support calls for collaborative consultation with the Tsetsaut Ski km La Ha regarding the project's permitting status and its proposed tailings management facility.

The action follows a BC Supreme Court decision on June 8, 2026, which found that the BC Environmental Assessment Office did not fully meet its duty to consult the Tsetsaut Ski km La Ha when determining whether the KSM Project had been substantially started. The Court directed the environmental assessment office to provide a 90-day period for written submissions.

The deadline for the Tsetsaut Ski km La Ha to provide written submissions to the BC Environmental Assessment Office regarding whether the KSM Project was substantially started is September 28, 2026. Following the conclusion of this consultation period, the BC Environmental Assessment Office will reconsider its substantial started determination for the project.

Seabridge reported cumulative spending of over $1 billion on the KSM Project since acquisition in 2001; total project investment has increased to more than $1.4 billion. This capital outlay includes over $650 million spent since 2021 to advance site infrastructure. Seabridge Gold holds a 100% interest in several North American gold projects, with KSM and the Bronson Corridor projects serving as its principal assets in British Columbia's Golden Triangle.

Total project investment of more than $1.4 billion reflects extensive work completed on infrastructure to date, alongside approximately $515 million awarded in contracts to Indigenous-affiliated businesses over the past four years. The company maintains signed agreements with both the Nisga'a Nation and the Tahltan Nation, whose businesses remain actively involved in ongoing work at the project site.
