Skyharbour Resources Expands Athabasca Basin Land Holdings
Skyharbour Resources Ltd. (SYH) has bolstered its uranium exploration portfolio in northern Saskatchewan by acquiring 46 new mineral claims. This staking initiative adds approximately 149,439 hectares to the company's holdings, bringing its total footprint to 682,100 hectares across 44 uranium properties in the Athabasca Basin. Skyharbour utilizes a proprietary, in-house mineral tenure monitoring and staking system, which allows the company to identify and secure prospective exploration ground efficiently before it attracts wider industry attention.
The expansion includes ten new or reacquired projects, specifically the Carswell East, Carswell North, Cree North, Rapids, Carter West, Ford Lake, LEB, Perpete, and Bolt projects. Furthermore, the company has added claims to its existing Bennett, Carter North, and Elevator projects. These assets are now integrated into Skyharbour’s prospect generator business model, where the company intends to seek strategic partners to advance exploration through option and joint venture agreements. While seeking these partnerships, Skyharbour plans to retain exposure to discovery through minority ownership interests, royalties, and equity positions in partner firms.
Technical evaluation is already underway for several of the new acquisitions. For the Carter West project, which consists of six claims covering 24,397.9 hectares along the western margin of the basin, the company has recommended ground geophysical surveys as the initial phase of exploration. These surveys are intended to further evaluate the uranium mineralization potential on the site, which currently remains largely untested by modern exploration techniques. Other projects, such as the Pine Project, also show significant potential for uranium, gold, and base metals, having previously identified structural corridors that merit systematic follow-up.
While the company remains focused on active drilling campaigns at its co-flagship properties, this latest land acquisition reinforces its standing as one of the largest landholders in the Athabasca Basin. By consolidating these large-scale regional assets, Skyharbour aims to provide a pipeline of exploration-ready targets for future partners.
"Skyharbour’s goal is to maximize shareholder value through new mineral discoveries, committed long-term partnerships, and the advancement of exploration projects in geopolitically favourable jurisdictions."
— Jordan Trimble, President and CEO
The new land package encompasses a diverse range of geological settings across the Athabasca Basin, spanning from the basin edge to areas underlain by crystalline basement rock. With modern geophysical coverage varying significantly across these claims, the company expects to leverage its prospect generator strategy to facilitate further technical work, including electromagnetic surveying and potential drill testing, through external investment and collaborative partnership models.
