Southern Cross Gold Hits 0.6 Metres at 972 g/t Gold and Extends Apollo East at Sunday Creek
Southern Cross Gold Consolidated Ltd has returned high-grade assays from five drill holes at the 100%-owned Sunday Creek Gold-Antimony Project in Victoria, highlighted by drill hole SDDSC222W1, which intersected 0.6 metres grading 972.0 g/t gold and 8.9% antimony from 808.5 metres.
The result represents the ninth-best composite intersection drilled at Sunday Creek to date, encountered approximately 620 metres below surface. The intercept extends the A130 vein set 40 metres below its previously known vertical depth extent, reinforcing that gold and antimony grades continue to strengthen at depth within the Apollo area.
Drill hole SDDSC222 was extended and wedged into SDDSC222W1 after intersecting the Admiral Fault at approximately 732 metres. The decision saved an estimated 750 metres of future drilling by capturing targets originally planned for a separate hole.
Meanwhile, shallow drilling in the Apollo East corridor intersected significant high-grade mineralization closer to surface. Drill hole SDDSC227 returned 5.1 metres at 27.2 g/t gold equivalent—comprising 18.4 g/t gold and 3.7% antimony—from 260.9 metres, including a 2.6-metre interval at 51.1 g/t gold equivalent. This intercept features individual assays of 186.0 g/t gold and 116.0 g/t gold alongside 32.5% antimony, representing the shallowest high-grade intersection recorded in Apollo East at 144 metres below surface.
SDDSC227 also delivered the easternmost significant intersection drilled at Sunday Creek to date, located approximately 110 m below surface mineralization identified during trenching in 2021. Combined with results from SDDSC223 and SDDSC222, the Apollo East corridor is now defined across 140 metres of horizontal strike.
“This release does two things at once. SDDSC222 and its wedge SDDSC222W1 pushed Apollo down-dip, returning 972 g/t gold over 0.6 m at 620 metres vertical depth, our 9th best intersection at Sunday Creek. SDDSC223 and SDDSC227 extended Apollo East to its shallowest and easternmost extensions. Grades keep improving with depth at Sunday Creek rather than tailing off, but they are not absent at surface either.”
