Southern Cross Gold Reports High-Grade Antimony Intercepts at Sunday Creek
Southern Cross Gold (TSX: SXGC, ASX: SX2) has released new results from six drill holes at the Golden Dyke prospect, part of its 100%-owned Sunday Creek project in Victoria, Australia. The drilling focused on the upper portions of the deposit, directly above the base of a planned exploration decline. These results confirm the presence of high-grade gold-antimony mineralization consistent with the site’s geological model, which typically features antimony-rich zones near the surface.
The highlight of the report is drill hole SDDSC233, which returned 7.9 m @ 19.9 g/t AuEq, comprising 2.8 g/t gold and 7.1% antimony. This interval included a high-grade sub-section of 3.7 m @ 37.5 g/t AuEq. The company noted that all reported holes were drilled as infill, successfully confirming grade continuity between previously defined intercepts. These findings are expected to support future mining studies for the project, as the area sits in a highly drilled zone that is structurally well-understood.
Management highlighted the strategic importance of the antimony grades discovered in these shallow sections. The exploration team identified four new vein sets across three holes, with some individual antimony assays reaching up to 47%.
"What these results tell us is the antimony story at Sunday Creek is strong and is strategically significant, alongside the gold story."
"Individual assays up to 47% Sb are not an anomaly, they are a feature of this system."
— Michael Hudson, President & CEO
The technical success of this drill program relies on the epizonal nature of the Sunday Creek system, where antimony is known to concentrate in the upper, shallower reaches before transitioning to gold-dominant mineralization at greater depths. By infilling these specific structures, the company believes it is de-risking the project’s future development path. The consistency of these results provides confidence in the geological model, as the drill intersections appeared exactly where they were predicted to occur.
Operations at the site remain busy, with eleven drill rigs currently active. The company is in the midst of an extensive 200,000-metre drill program that is scheduled to continue through the first quarter of 2027. With 69 drill holes currently awaiting results and ongoing analysis, the company continues to refine its understanding of the Golden Dyke area as it prepares for further technical evaluations. The data confirms that the shallow antimony endowment is both robust and consistent across the project's most densely drilled zone.
