Southern Cross Gold Reports Successful Western Step-out at Sunday Creek
Southern Cross Gold Consolidated Ltd (TSX: SXGC, ASX: SX2) has reported results from five new drill holes at its 100%-owned Sunday Creek project in Victoria, Australia. These results represent the westernmost sequence of drilling conducted at the main prospect area to date, with collars positioned approximately 300 metres west of any previously reported activity. The drilling program included three definition holes and two deep control holes, successfully confirming that the mineralized system extends into previously untested ground.
Hole SDDSC235, the deepest and westernmost of the batch, intercepted 481 metres at 0.9 grams per tonne gold, including several high-grade intervals. This hole serves as a critical connector, linking the Christina prospect to the Golden Dyke corridor and further defining the architecture of the Rising Sun prospect over 1,000 metres below the surface. The company noted that all three definition holes from the new western pad intersected gold within 60 metres of the surface, revealing up to three previously unidentified shallow vein sets.
"SDDSC235 is one of the most important holes we have drilled at Sunday Creek. The westernmost hole reported from Christina, it stayed in near-continuous mineralization for 481 m @ 0.9 g/t gold (uncut), delivered individual assays up to 496 g/t gold below the entire Christina prospect."
"With eleven rigs turning, 68 holes at the lab and our 200,000 m program running through to Q1 2027, Sunday Creek continues to grow in scale and confidence with every set of results."
— Michael Hudson, President & CEO
The technical success of these holes relies on structural data gathered from two earlier control holes, which established the down-dip geometry of the dyke structure. By successfully tracing the mineralized corridor from the Christina prospect through to Golden Dyke, the company has validated its current exploration model across a wider footprint. Across the five reported holes, eight individual gold assays exceeded 50 grams per tonne, while the presence of shallow antimony grades reinforces the epizonal nature of the mineralization in the western sector.
Operational activity at the site remains high, with eleven drill rigs currently active. The company is managing a significant pipeline of work, with assay results for 68 drill holes currently pending at the laboratory. These efforts are part of a broader, ongoing 200,000-metre drill program scheduled to conclude in the first quarter of 2027. This consistent generation of high-grade intercepts, combined with the successful testing of western ground, supports the company's objective of demonstrating the long-term scale and continuity of the Sunday Creek system. Further updates are expected as laboratory processing of the remaining drill core progresses over the coming months.
