Southern Hemisphere Mining (ASX: SUH) has intersected significant copper sulphide mineralisation at its Llahuin project in Chile, following the completion of nine diamond drill tails. The campaign, which totalled 2,251 metres, focused on extending previous reverse circulation holes to test the vertical extent of the copper porphyry system.

The drilling returned consistent mineralised intercepts across the site. Notable results include 241 metres at 0.42% copper equivalent (CuEq) from 18 metres in hole 24LHRD067, which contained a higher-grade interval of 143 metres at 0.51% CuEq. Additionally, hole 24LHRD065 intercepted 154 metres at 0.66% CuEq from surface, while hole 24LHRD055 returned 156 metres at 0.43% CuEq.

The company reports that the mineralisation remains open at depth and suggests the presence of a new porphyry centre at the Ferro South target. These results provide the geological data necessary for an upcoming resource upgrade, which is currently in progress. Southern Hemisphere intends to publish this updated mineral resource estimate for the Llahuin project once final assays from the remaining drill holes are received.
