Southern Silver Exploration Corp. has reported underground channel sampling results from the Puro Corazon Mine at the Cerro Las Minitas property in Mexico, returning multiple intervals of strongly anomalous polymetallic mineralization.

Highlight assays from sub-levels 5 to 14 of the mine include 2.8 metres averaging 289g/t silver, 0.2% copper, 9.6% lead and 6.6% zinc, equating to 665g/t silver equivalent. An additional interval returned 1.2 metres averaging 1,057g/t silver, 21.0% lead and 21.6% zinc, or 2,042g/t silver equivalent. A further intercept yielded 4.0 metres averaging 198g/t silver, 6.0% lead and 1.9% zinc, representing 367g/t silver equivalent.

The underground channel sampling program comprised 230 channels totaling 1,380 individual samples. Sampling targeted skarn alteration and mineralization adjacent to the Central Intrusion and in mineralized zones located outboard of the main contact. Southern Silver noted that many samples were collected adjacent to wider, mined-out stopes previously targeted by artisanal miners, meaning current sampling may not reflect the true thickness or grades of historically mined material.

The work forms part of a broader program of underground mapping, sampling and geotechnical analyses designed to understand the style and distribution of mineralization at the Puro Corazon target and establish continuity between near-surface mineralization in the underground workings and mineralization identified in recent drilling. Additional work completed by the company includes an underground lidar survey and ongoing hydrological characterization.

The Cerro Las Minitas project consists of 25 concessions covering 34,450 hectares located approximately 79 kilometres northeast of the city of Durango within Mexico's Faja de Plata.

Southern Silver is continuing a Phase I definition drill program of up to 14,000 metres designed to upgrade resource categories at the Puro Corazon target. Six core holes totaling 2,194 metres have been completed to date in that campaign, with assays pending.

The company plans to incorporate the results of the drilling and underground sampling programs into an updated Mineral Resource Estimate for the Cerro Las Minitas project. Following that update, Southern Silver intends to revise the Preliminary Economic Assessment of the project in accordance with National Instrument 43-101.
