Surefire Resources Shortlists Victory Bore For Western Australia Critical Minerals Prospectus
Surefire Resources has advanced its Victory Bore vanadium project in Western Australia after the state government shortlisted the asset for inclusion in the upcoming Critical Minerals Prospectus.
The designation by the Department of Mines, Petroleum and Exploration alongside Invest and Trade Western Australia identifies the project as a key opportunity to support emerging domestic and international supply chains for vanadium, titanium, and related critical minerals.
Surefire has started discussions with the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation through trade offices in Singapore, Ho Chi Minh City, and Tokyo to target Asian strategic investors, battery technology groups, and government-backed initiatives.
The company is concurrently progressing technical work alongside Australian Flow Batteries under a previously executed heads of agreement. A bulk sample of Victory Bore concentrate is undergoing metallurgical testing in Canada to validate low-energy processing performance using Australian Flow Batteries' patented intellectual property.
“Victory Bore is now positioned within the State's strategic minerals framework, and our engagement with JTSI is opening direct channels into key Asian markets. Our discussions with AFB, combined with Canadian test work on Victory Bore concentrate, are building a commercially aligned pathway that integrates upstream production with downstream battery technology.”
— Vladimir Nikolaenko, Exec Chairman
Previous metallurgical test work on a bulk sample reported in February 2025 upgraded vanadium grades to 1.489% V₂O₅—representing a 14.5% improvement—and iron grades to 61.68% Fe, marking a 15% improvement over baseline study metrics.
The current Canadian test program is designed to confirm those recovery rates, assess titanium and iron co-product streams, and generate data for downstream integration. The progression of the Australian Flow Batteries collaboration framework remains directly contingent on the final outcomes of this test work.
