Talisker Streamlines Bralorne Sorting Circuit to Save $4M
Talisker Resources Ltd. has completed its final sorting test program at the Saskatchewan Research Council, prompting the company to simplify the plant design for its Bralorne Gold Project by removing a downstream laser sorter.
The test work evaluated TOMRA Mining’s X-Ray Transmission technology alongside laser sorting in collaboration with Canenco Consulting Corp. Results showed that the XRT sorter alone successfully rejected 57% to 67% of waste material, doubled to 2.5 times gold grades, and recovered between 84% and 87% of total contained gold.

While adding a downstream laser sorter pushed overall gold recovery past 95%, the additional recovered material proved subeconomic. Including the laser unit would have increased shipped mass and diluted the overall grade of the sorted product, reducing the financial benefits of mass rejection during the company's direct shipping ore phase.
By removing the laser sorter, the revised flowsheet is expected to maximize waste rejection, reduce transportation tonnage, lower operating costs, and cut capital equipment and construction costs by approximately $4 million CAD. This test performance improves upon preliminary second-phase laser sorting trials, which achieved waste rejection of 35% to 55% with gold recoveries ranging from 95% to 99%.
The optimization supports Talisker's direct shipping ore strategy, which commenced following the finalization of an Ore Purchase Agreement with Ocean Partners UK Ltd. in January 2026. For project logistics, Talisker anticipates its next marine vessel shipment of ore to depart in late October or early November 2026. Talisker trades at $1.45, up 8.21% on September 17, 2026.
“These results confirm we can achieve substantial waste rejection and significant gold grade increases while maintaining strong recoveries. The ability to eliminate the laser sorter and save approximately $4 million in capital costs, simplify the plant design and operations, and reduce operating costs further strengthens the economics of the Bralorne Gold Project.”
