Talon Metals Corp. has completed the 60-day public scoping comment period for the Environmental Impact Statement concerning the Tamarack Nickel-Copper-Cobalt Project in central Minnesota.

The comment period on the Scoping Environmental Assessment Worksheet and Draft Scoping Decision Document concluded on September 14, 2026. The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources will now review the feedback received and issue a Final Scoping Decision to determine the scope of the state Environmental Impact Statement.

“Completion of the public scoping comment period is another important milestone for the Tamarack Mining Project,” said Darby Stacey, Chief Executive Officer of Talon. “This input is an important part of the state's environmental review process and will help inform the scope of the Environmental Impact Statement as the DNR moves into the next phase of its review.”

The current project design incorporates an approximately 19-acre reduction in long-term surface facilities compared to the original project submittal. The plans feature enclosed ore handling, decline tunnel access, no exposed surface waste rock stockpiles, and no tailings generated or stored in Minnesota.

State environmental review must precede permitting decisions for the proposed underground operation. Talon holds a 51% ownership interest in the Tamarack project through a joint venture with Rio Tinto, maintaining an earn-in right to increase its stake to 60%. The company also holds an existing US$114.8 million funding agreement with the U.S. Department of Energy under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act to support domestic critical mineral processing.
