Taranis Resources Identifies Hydrothermally Altered Intrusive Stock at Thor
Taranis Resources Inc. has identified a hydrothermally altered, sulfide-bearing syenite intrusive stock at its Thor project in southeast British Columbia. The new prospect, dubbed GUS, is located approximately 6.4 kilometres southeast of the company’s NI 43-101 mineral resource.
The identification of this phaneritic intrusive body is considered significant, as it provides evidence of a potential "engine" for the widespread mineralization observed across the Silver Cup district. The intrusive rocks at GUS contain endoskarn featuring irregular iron-oxide quartz veinlets with 3–4% pyrrhotite, alongside green-coloured alteration. Contact alteration extends approximately 340 metres to the west of the body, where metasedimentary rocks exhibit intense blue-green bleaching.
The GUS prospect is connected to the Thor deposit by the Thor Lamprophyre Dyke, a 16-kilometre-long aeromagnetic feature closely associated with historical past-producing mines. Evidence from deep drilling at Thor—specifically the transition from near-surface pyrite to high-temperature pyrrhotite at depth—suggests a mineral zonation consistent with a large, underlying intrusive stock similar to GUS.
Historical exploration in the immediate vicinity of the GUS intrusive includes a 1984 drill hole located 126 metres to the west. This hole intercepted 13.37 g/t gold, 1.98% zinc, 1.58% lead, and 85.62 oz/ton silver over 1.83 metres. Taranis cautions that it has not independently verified the historical sampling, assay results, or quality control protocols associated with this work, and readers should not place undue reliance on the legacy data.
The company is currently performing detailed laboratory analysis on intrusive samples from GUS to confirm its role in the district’s mineralization. Simultaneously, field teams are conducting ground-proofing on five additional circular magnetic high anomalies identified through recent aeromagnetic mapping to determine if they represent further prospective intrusive stocks.
