Targa Exploration Corp. has scheduled a 4,500 to 5,000-metre diamond drill program at its Opinaca gold project in Quebec. The campaign, which will consist of 12 to 15 holes ranging from 350 to 400 metres in length, is set to begin in the second half of August 2026.

The program aims to follow up on the company’s maiden 2025 drilling, which identified gold mineralization across a 4-kilometre strike length. The 2025 campaign included a notable intersection of 13.88g/t gold over 3.65 metres. Operations for the upcoming program are being managed by Kenorland Minerals, which has overseen the project's exploration activities for the past three seasons.

The drilling is divided into two main priority areas. Seven holes totalling 2,900 metres are prioritized for the Western zone to test strike continuity along a 5-kilometre trend. An additional two holes, representing 800 metres of the planned meterage, will test the Eastern zone. This area hosts a soil and heavy mineral concentrate anomaly that has not yet been drill-tested; a sample collected in 2024 returned 98 gold grains, of which over 95% were pristine, suggesting the proximity of a bedrock source. The remaining 1,300 metres of the 2026 program are reserved for follow-up drilling on the most promising results.

The drill campaign is expected to last four to five weeks, with operations concluding in late September 2026. Assay results from the program are anticipated in the fall of 2026.

The project is located south of the boundary between the Opinaca and LaGrande geological subprovinces, a region that hosts several gold deposits. Mineralization identified to date is hosted in metamorphosed greywacke and tonalite, often showing a correlation with arsenic and tungsten. The company continues to use soil and heavy mineral concentrate sampling alongside high-resolution airborne magnetics to refine its drill targeting.
