Thunder Gold Reports 1.793 g/t Au over 45.0 metres at UV Target Advancing Tower Mountain Resource Growth Strategy
Thunder Gold Corp. (TSXV: TGOL) has released results from a six-hole diamond drilling program at the UV Target, part of its flagship Tower Mountain property located 40 kilometres west of Thunder Bay, Ontario. The drilling program, totaling 2,937 metres, was designed to test the downward projection of the main mineralized trend and investigate gaps within the company’s 2026 Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE) that lacked sufficient historical data.
The results demonstrate the continuity of gold mineralization below the current optimized pit shell. A standout result came from hole TM26-204, which intersected 142.0 metres averaging 0.668 g/t gold, including a higher-grade interval of 45.0 metres averaging 1.793 g/t gold. This specific intersection highlights a material increase in grade when compared to the 142.0 metres at 0.317 g/t gold returned by historical hole TM23-143, providing a clearer picture of the project's potential.
"These results materially advance our understanding of the UV Target and reinforce the continuity of gold mineralization below and adjacent to the current pit shell."
— Wes Hanson, President and CEO
The drilling also successfully identified new, near-surface zones of mineralization in areas previously modeled as waste, which the company suggests could help reduce the waste-to-ore strip ratio in potential future open-pit operations. Other notable intercepts include 238.5 metres averaging 0.259 g/t gold in hole TM26-200, consistent with historical data.
Beyond the UV Target, the company is continuing to refine its geological model.
"We are now completing exploration drilling at the Bench Target along the eastern margin of the optimized pit, which will conclude the current phase of drilling focused on un-estimated areas within the 2026 MRE pit shell."
Thunder Gold is aggressively consolidating its land position in the Shebandowan Greenstone Belt, having acquired the Electra and Thunder Lake properties earlier in 2026 to supplement its flagship project. These acquisitions and recent exploration efforts align with the company’s broader objective of expanding the total resource at Tower Mountain.
Looking ahead, the company is preparing for its next phase of development. A resource definition drilling program is scheduled to begin on August 1, 2026, with the primary goal of converting Inferred Resources to the Indicated category. This work is expected to conclude by the end of September and the company anticipates publishing an updated MRE by mid-October. This upcoming resource update is expected to incorporate data from the current drill program, potentially confirming the improved grade and continuity observed in the recent UV Target results.
The company remains focused on its strategy to build a long-life, open-pit gold operation. By continuing to test un-estimated areas and extending known trends, management aims to enhance the overall economic profile of the project, leveraging the existing local infrastructure and the favorable location of the property near the Trans-Canada highway.
