Japan Australia Fluorite Associates has received a further $3 million tranche under the International Partnerships in Critical Minerals grant awarded to the Speewah Fluorite Project in Western Australia.

The newly received funds will be applied directly to progress the Definitive Feasibility Study currently underway for the project. Cumulative funding received under the grant program has now reached $6.4 million, following an original $7.4 million cash award granted on 6 December 2024. A subsequent Deed of Variation enabled the parties to bring forward the $3 million tranche to August 2026 and align milestone scheduling following a review of material progress through the first half of 2026.

Project owner Japan Australia Fluorite Associates holds the Speewah Fluorite Project within an incorporated joint venture involving Tivan Limited, Sumitomo Corporation, and the Japan Organization for Metals and Energy Security, in partnership with ETFS Capital Limited.

Tivan Executive Chairman Grant Wilson said, "The IPCM grant has made an important contribution to the pre-FID funding pathway for the Speewah Fluorite Project. We are pleased that the Department of Industry, Science and Resources has approved the next payment tranche, based upon a review of our material progress through 1H 2026."

Definitive Feasibility Study completion for the Speewah project is scheduled later in 2026. Full pilot plant operations are also scheduled to be undertaken later in 2026, with a Final Investment Decision targeted for October 2026.
