Tivan Secures Debt Adviser for Speewah Fluorite Project
Tivan Limited has appointed Sydney-based corporate advisory firm ICA Natural Resources to advise on debt funding for the development of the Speewah Fluorite Project in Western Australia. The mandate was issued by Japan Australia Fluorite Associates, the joint venture entity through which Tivan partners with Sumitomo Corporation to develop the project.
The appointment of ICA Natural Resources marks a tactical shift in the project’s financing schedule. The firm has been tasked with structuring and executing the debt funding package, leveraging its specialist experience in resources and critical minerals, including previous work with government concessional lenders and large Japanese corporate entities.
Tivan operates the site as an incorporated joint venture, which also includes a formal partnership interest from the Japan Organization for Metals and Energy Security (JOGMEC). The project is positioned as an Australian-first mining and processing operation dedicated to the production of acid-grade fluorspar.
“Delighted to announce the appointment of ICA Natural Resources on behalf of Japan Australia Fluorite Associates, following an extremely competitive process over the past two months. This announcement represents the start of our push to complete the project finance round for the Speewah Fluorite Project, enabling a Final Investment Decision, that will be led by Tivan on behalf of our Joint Venture”
— Mr Grant Wilson, Executive Chairman
The company’s broader funding strategy is already underway, supported by existing binding agreements that provide for up to $100 million in equity capital. In addition to securing the new debt adviser, Tivan is actively progressing through the due diligence phase with the Northern Australia Infrastructure Facility. These combined equity and debt workstreams are intended to support the project’s path toward a Final Investment Decision.
Technical and development planning remains a central priority for the project, with Tivan currently finalising a Definitive Feasibility Study. The completion of this study is scheduled for later this year, providing the foundation for the upcoming financing and investment milestones.
