Trident Resources Completes 6,500m of Drilling at Contact Lake
Trident Resources has completed nine drill holes totalling 6,500m at its Contact Lake gold project in Northern Saskatchewan. The current campaign, which targets the past-producing Contact Lake mine area, is part of a planned 20,000m program across approximately 35 holes.
Assay results from the completed drilling are currently pending. The program is testing depth and strike extensions within the Bakos Shear Zone, the primary host of mineralization at the project, where recent work intersected prospective zones at depths exceeding 800m. Operations are currently focused on evaluating the potential for a larger mineralized system by discovering gold at depth beneath the BK1 zone, extending mineralization along strike at the BK2 zone, and testing the continuity of high-grade gold between the BK1 and BK3 zones.
“This summer and fall program is a pivotal step in advancing and scaling the Contact Lake deposit.”
— Jonathan Wiesblatt, CEO of Trident Resources
Trident is simultaneously conducting a comprehensive regional soil sampling program at Contact Lake and at the adjacent Preview target area, located 2.5km to the southeast. The team has collected 5,700 soil samples to date, with analysis underway, toward an anticipated total of 9,000 samples. This work is intended to provide surface data across the Preview trend between the existing Preview SW and Preview North deposits, and cover an under-explored area southwest of the Contact Lake deposit hosting the intersection of the Bakos and Keya Shear Zones.
Alongside technical exploration, the company has appointed T Global Consulting Services, an Indigenous-owned firm led by Tia Watt, to manage its community and Indigenous engagement initiatives. The consultant will act as a liaison between Trident and Indigenous rightsholders, municipalities, and other regional stakeholders to facilitate transparent communication and the integration of community considerations into project planning.
Trident intends to use the gathered data to generate near-term drill targets across its 98,700-hectare land package. Looking ahead, the company plans to finalize the remaining 3,300 soil samples and execute an airborne magnetic and radiometric geophysical survey over its early-stage Reindeer property. This property straddles the northern extension of the La Ronge-Kisseynew lithostructural boundary, which forms a key part of the company's exploration strategy. Regional prospecting is also underway across the wider La Ronge Gold Belt to evaluate multiple documented gold occurrences.
Shares in Trident are currently trading at $3.26, up 1.24% on 5 August 2026. The company notes that it will have drilled more than 40,000m across the La Ronge Gold Belt since its founding 16 months ago. Trident maintains that its ongoing work is designed to unlock the district-scale potential of the belt, drawing on a treasury established to fund all 2026 exploration plans.
