West Red Lake Gold Mines Ltd. (WRLG), an emerging gold producer operating in Ontario’s prolific Red Lake district, has reported a substantial jump in output for the second quarter of 2026. The company’s flagship Madsen Mine produced 8,576 ounces of gold during the period, a 51% increase compared to the 5,667 ounces generated in the first quarter of the year. This operational improvement reflects the company's progress in its ongoing ramp-up phase, as it aims to reach a more consistent, long-term production profile. Shares of the company responded positively to the update, trading up 10.94% at $0.71 during the session.

The production gains were driven by higher throughput and improved mining rates. During the second quarter, the company successfully mined 75,524 tonnes of ore, representing a 46% increase over the 51,616 tonnes mined in the first quarter. Alongside the increased tonnage, the average grade of the mined material also saw a material improvement, rising to 4.3 g/t Au from 3.5 g/t Au in the previous quarter. The mill processing rate averaged approximately 842 tonnes per day (tpd) throughout the second quarter, a significant climb from the 572 tpd reported in the first three months of 2026.

Operational efficiency at the site has improved as management advances mine sequencing and opens multiple stoping fronts. This operational flexibility has allowed the company to consistently exceed the mine's current permitted mill throughput of 800 tpd. By the end of the quarter, the mine had successfully built a surface stockpile of 10,768 tonnes, estimated to contain approximately 1,500 ounces of gold. This buffer provides the company with greater control over mill feed consistency as it continues to work toward a sustained processing capacity of 1,000 tpd throughout the remainder of the year.

"Q2 demonstrated that the development-focused strategy implemented during the first half of 2026 is translating into measurable operating improvements as mine sequencing advanced to unlock multiple stoping fronts and operational flexibility continued to improve." — Shane Williams, President and CEO

Management remains focused on maintaining this momentum to reach its full-year production guidance of 35,000 to 45,000 ounces of gold. The current operational results suggest that the Madsen Mine is successfully progressing through its restart and ramp-up phase. Beyond its primary focus at the Madsen asset, the company also controls the Rowan property in the Red Lake district. This satellite exploration asset features three past-producing mines, providing the company with a broader portfolio of opportunities within the district as it balances current production activities with future growth initiatives.

Investors can expect further details on the company’s financial performance when it releases its second-quarter unaudited results on August 25, 2026, following the close of markets. A webcast for stakeholders to discuss these operations and financial metrics is scheduled for the following morning, August 26, 2026, at 8:00 am PT. The company continues to advance its self-funded development and exploration work to support both current operations and long-term expansion plans across its land package.
